Association membership
SIMA is a 501(c)(6), member-owned trade association serving surf businesses. Membership categories reflect the type of work your company performs. Applying is an expression of interest and does not itself establish membership or authorize a payment.
Categories and published annual dues
Industry membership serves manufacturers of apparel, accessories, eyewear, footwear and wetsuits. Annual manufacturer dues depend on company revenue and start at $500 USD; surf park dues start at $2,500 USD. Board Builder & Retail membership serves shapers and retailers at $250 USD annually. Associate membership serves eligible agencies, publishers, media, research, production and online services, with revenue-based annual dues starting at $500 USD. Partner membership serves eligible professional administrative and operational service companies at $2,500 USD annually.
Benefits and eligibility
Membership provides access to an industry community, research and educational resources, and participation in SIMA’s industry work. Specific event admission, products, discounts or separate services are included only when expressly stated in the relevant offer. SIMA confirms the appropriate category and assessment for your company.
Application, period and payment
Submit current company information through the appropriate application or renewal route. Review SIMA’s confirmation of the annual dues and the applicable membership start and end dates before payment. A revenue-based starting rate is not a final quotation. This site publishes annual dues and does not offer a monthly membership or installment plan.
Renewal and cancellation
The renewal button opens the membership payment service or SIMA account registration. Creating an account is separate from completing a payment. These public pages do not enroll you in automatic renewal or recurring charges. If a separate service offers renewal authorization, review its amount, interval and cancellation terms before accepting. To discuss ending membership or changing company information, contact SIMA. Confirm the effective date and effect on benefits with the association.
Refunds and tax treatment
Refund requests are reviewed under the terms disclosed for your membership transaction and applicable law. Cancellation does not automatically reverse a processed charge. Dues paid to the 501(c)(6) association are not charitable contributions for federal income tax purposes; consult your tax adviser about other possible treatment.
